Monthly Bingo Fundraiser

We run a monthly Bingo at Castledowns Bingo Hall at 12222 -137 Avenue in Edmonton. Proceeds from Bingos go towards the rental of the gymnasium for Cadet activities, classrooms, airport tours, band equipment, storage facilities, and other essential supports to help create exceptional experiences for the cadets.

Volunteers Are Required For Bingos!

Should we not be able to fulfill the bingo volunteer requirements for each of our scheduled bingos we will lose this essential funding needed to run the Cadet Program.

Currently, we require all parents and guardians to commit to volunteering at 4 bingos per cadet family per cadet year to support the squadron’s activities.

Each Bingo date requires a minimum of 13 volunteers with 4 people available on standby. Volunteers must arrive between 4:20 and 4:30 pm and stay until the end at approximately 11:30 or midnight. Volunteers are provided breaks.

  • No experience needed. Training and support is provided.

  • All positions are pretty easy!

  • Bingo volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older.

Standby positions are not required to be at the bingo hall unless you are called in the event another volunteer is unable to attend.  You must be available for the event though.

Sample Bingo Position Descriptions

Chair:

  • Ensure that everyone signs in as they arrive. There are two sheets and they need to sign in on both for the bingo hall and one for their scheduled break.

  • Count the floats in the back and put them in the containers provided.

  • Much of the night will then be spent counting and bundling money. The Advisor will guide you on this but be prepared to count and double-count a large amount of cash.

  • You will need to fill in the total on a cheque for the volunteer meals for the event. This means that you must arrange to get the cheque well before the event so you can bring it with you. When the volunteer meals are done for the shift, the staff will ask you for payment.

  • The end of the night will have some final sign-offs to make. Please keep our copy of the forms and the receipts for volunteer meals to be turned over to the Guardians of 810 Treasurer.

Ball sellers:

  • You will be walking around all night selling ball tickets and calling back bingos.

Paymaster:

  • Works in the cage all night and pay out the winnings except for ball winnings. Also sells early bird tickets.

  • This person needs to be quick with numbers and organized. The bingo staff member selling the balls will help the ball controller and train them. Basically, they need to make floats and count tickets.

Bonanza seller:

  • This person also needs to be quick with math. A calculator is available if they need it. They sell all the extra game tickets. This one is fast-paced and works in the cage.
